MAJOR GENERAL DENNIS P. LEMASTER

COMMANDING GENERAL

U.S. ARMY MEDICAL CENTER OF EXCELLENCE

AND 19TH CHIEF, U.S. ARMY MEDICAL SERVICE CORPS

Major General Dennis P. LeMaster assumed command of the U.S. Army

Medical Center of Excellence on 10 January 2020. Previous to this posi-

tion, MG LeMaster served as the Commanding General, Regional Health

Command-Pacific and USARPAC Command Surgeon. MG LeMaster re-

ceived his commission in 1987 from Washington State University’s ROTC

program. After graduating from the Officer Basic Course in September

1987, his first assignment was as the Medical Platoon Leader for the 2-35

Armor Battalion, 3d Brigade, 4th Infantry Division, Fort Carson, Colorado.

Following that assignment, MG LeMaster served as Company Executive

Officer for the 517th Medical Company. In 1990, he was assigned to Camp

Casey, Korea, as the Operations Officer for the Division Medical Opera-

tions Center, 2d Infantry Division. Upon completion of the U.S. Army Medi-

cal Department (AMEDD) Advanced Course in 1991, MG LeMaster commanded C. Company, 203d For-

ward Support Battalion, 3d Infantry Division, Erlangen, Germany. He went on to serve for 27 months as

the Forward Support Medical Company and Forward Support Battalion S-3 Observer/Controller-Trainer at

the Combat Maneuver Training Center, Hohenfels, Germany. After returning to the United States in March

1996, MG LeMaster was assigned as the Operations Officer for the AMEDD Battle Laboratory, Fort Sam

Houston, Texas. In 1998, he returned to Germany as the S-3 and then Executive Officer for the 67th Com-

bat Support Hospital in Wuerzburg, Germany. In June 2000, he was assigned to headquarters, 30th Medi-

cal Brigade, Heidelberg, Germany, as Chief of Training & Exercises and subsequently as Chief of Current

Operations. Following his return to the United States, MG LeMaster led the AMEDD Officer Basic Course

as the Chief of the Leader Development Branch from August 2003 to June 2005. From there, he served

as the Installation Commander, Camp Bullis, Texas, from June 2005 to June 2007, before going on to

serve as the Executive Officer to the Commanding General, AMEDD Center & School, until 2008. MG Le-

Master attended the Army War College, graduating in the Class of 2009. MG LeMaster was the Western

Regional Medical Command Chief of Staff from 2009 to 2012, Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Washington.

From June 2012 to December 2013, he commanded Bassett Army Community Hospital, Fort Wainwright,

Alaska. He commanded Evans Army Community Hospital, Fort Carson, Colorado, from January 2014 until

May 2016. Recently, MG LeMaster commanded Regional Health Command Europe and served as

USAREUR Command Surgeon, Sembach, Germany, from June 2016 until May 2018. MG LeMaster's op-

erational deployment assignments include Task Force S-3 for Task Force 67 in Hungary-Croatia, Task

Force S-3 for Task Force MEDEAGLE in Bosnia, and Chief, Current Operations for the 30th Medical Bri-

gade in Operation Iraqi Freedom.

MG LeMaster received his Bachelor of Science degrees in Range Management and Forest Management

from Washington State University in 1985 and 1987. He received his Master of Arts degree in Procure-

ment & Acquisition Management from Webster University in 1998, and his Master in Strategic Studies

from the Army War College in 2009. He is a graduate of the U.S. Army Command & General Staff Col-

lege, the U.S. Army Airborne School, the U.S. Army Armor School Maintenance Course, and the AMEDD

Combat Casualty Care Course.

MG LeMaster's badges and awards include the Combat Action Badge, the Expert Field Medical Badge,

the Basic Parachutist’s Badge, the Distinguished Service Medal (1 OLC), the Legion of Merit (3 OLC), the

Bronze Star, the Meritorious Service Medal (4 OLC), the Army Commendation Medal (7 OLC), the Army

Achievement Medal (2 OLC), National Defense Service Medal (Bronze Service Star), the Armed Forces

Expeditionary Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Ser-

vice Medal, the Iraq Campaign Medal, the Korean Defense Service Medal, the Armed Forces Service

Medal, and the NATO Medal.
